“To the holy and faithful brothers in
Christ at Colossae: Grace and peace to you from God our Father.”
Colossians
1:2
Word
confusion. I have a serious mind block
concerning certain words. It happens
often and I have to concentrate really hard, especially when I am writing, to
be vigilant regarding this enigma of mine.
For instance, I almost always confuse “than” and “then”, “there” and
“their” and “you” and “ewe”. Ok no never
on that last one. Just wanted to see if
you were paying attention.
I do this kind of
thing a lot. Sometimes it’s
harmless. Other times not. Especially when it comes to people’s
names. Yeah that is where the harmlessness
of this confusion thing takes a back seat.
People can be really sensitive if you call them by your pet’s name for
instance. I mean I was kind of
close. Your part of my family, we all
live in the same house so I inadvertently called you by our dog’s name. No big deal.
Really. People can be so
touchy.
There is one word
in scripture that I continually have confusion about and low and behold there
it is in verse two of Colossians.
Faithful. You see there are two
definitions of faithful. One is showing
up on time, every time. And the other is
to be filled with faith. I confess I
really like to confuse these words though.
Why? Because it is so much easier for me to be faithful, showing up on
time than to be filled with faith. I can
do the faithful showing up on time thing way better than the actually believing
I can show up on time.
Don’t get me
wrong. I have absolutely not a
hesitation when it comes to being filled with faith for other people
lives. It’s mine that I have an issue. So if you ever find me encouraging you to
believe God for your life you can know that it is genuine. I have absolute confidence in the authority
of scripture and I believe Every. Single. Word of it. God
says what He means. I have no
doubt! I just have trouble believing He
means it for me. Sometimes.
I wish this word
faithful found in Colossians 1:1 was the show up on time word faithful. But it isn’t.
It’s the filled with faith word. I
am a work in progress.
That’s all I have
to say on this. Sigh.
Praise the Lord. Faith is what God wants me to have in Him. Faithful is always what & who God is for me. God I pray fill me with more faith for you, I will always need more. Thank you God for Arlene helping me with my faith!
ReplyDeleteGod is faithful and always on time. :)
ReplyDeleteI can recall a time when my faith was based on second hand experience. In other words, I believed in God's faithfulness because I'd seen his mighty hand at work in others. But, nothing compares to the many times, I had to" practice what I preached." I truly had to be filled with faith to even pray. My LORD... he continues to reveal himself beautifully! He was, is and will be faithful !
ReplyDeleteThanks,
