Discovering Joy

How does one start a blog anyway? The initial post seems to carry so much weight to it. Rather then collapse under that kind of pressure, I thought that I would allow the clarity of what “Garden of the Lord” is all about to unfold over time. The prevailing thought that I would like for you to walk away with today is that if you are a God seeker, I think that you will enjoy what you find here.

Several years ago, I stumbled across the verse in Isaiah 51:3 “The LORD will surely comfort Zion and will look with compassion on all her ruins; he will make her deserts like Eden, her wastelands like the garden of the LORD. Joy and gladness will be found in her, thanksgiving and the sound of singing.” (emphasis mine)

I understood that this was God’s divine plan for me. God is working in my life through all my situations to make me a beautiful garden. The end result, as I walk in cooperation with Him, is joy, gladness, thanksgiving and singing. However, I found that the means to the end isn't always easy. I have encountered many difficult seasons along the way. There have been frustrating circumstances, more then one broken heart, discouragement, times of failure, loss of things that were dear to me…the list goes on. But even through all of these hard things, I have come to understand that God is looking on my life with compassion and is orchestrating all of them to make me more beautiful in His garden. And indeed there is joy.

This blog is dedicated to discovering what God is doing in our lives as He makes us into the beautiful garden that He already envisions us to be and how we can cooperate with Him in the process.

  3. Not at all surprising I suppose that you would post the verse that drove a great deal of my life...Isaiah 51:3. Perhaps it has to do with our 40 something years of friendship, we can never speak of a thing and yet be totally enjoined! This is beautifully done and your messages will touch the souls of many
